Veiling

Just curious to see who veils at mass/prayer. Tell me all about it!
I veil at mass, adoration, confession and have considered head covering full time but feel like I would have a lot of questions to answer or assumptions to shield myself from, not 100% that the Lord is calling me to do so full time. Wbu?

Hi! I’m from Spain and most people don’t veil here :) only in TLM, otherwise it’s quite rare and usually perceived as ‘fake’ piety, like, if you’re pious you don’t need to show it as it’s a matter of the heart. It’s a bit strange that it’s not normalised but it’s the current culture here 😊

Yes I experienced this in France as well- that even the most traditional women don’t veil, it’s just not a thing!

That's beautiful that you're veiling! Yes, it's a calling, and if the Lord wants you to do it full time He will make it clear, don't worry. And of course you can always start with a small thing, like a headband or a scarf or something.

Where I love almost nobody veils, only at the TLM. So when I go to the TLM I veil too (the whole time I'm in church - also for Adoration, confession, prayer). At other churches, it depends a bit on the people. For some people it will only give them offense when you veil and I feel like that's not really the point either, so I usually don't. In other churches they're much more neutral about it and I usually veil there.

Thank you for the encouragement! I think it’s really sad that people will take offence to something that others feel called to.

I am also feeling the calling, but I haven't got one yet. But I'm also scared because I've seen some videos of priests calling out women who veil during the Homily. I'll probably have to ask the priest at my church first, because I've seen comments saying we should strive for uniformity.

That’s disheartening.

That’s horrid. I’ve heard similar stories about people who want to receive on the tongue but are refused.

@gabrielstcharles Yes, that happens here too, it's so bad. Especially priests shouldn't do that.
