St. Monica (331-387) was unceasing in her prayers to God for her son Augustine's conversion and shed many tears for him. She strengthened her faith by her prayer and was oustanding in virtue, a wonderful example of a Christian mother.
What is truly amazing about her faith is that, through her prayers and perseverance, she played a profound role in Augustine’s conversion. Through God’s grace, Augustine went on to become a great saint and Doctor of the Church. What a wonderful example St. Monica gives us of holding firmly to our faith and never giving up in prayer!
