Do you remember your first communion?

I didn't have an official first Communion at all, at some point the priest just started giving me Communion when I looked old enough (and I didn't even know what the Eucharist was back then). So yes, I remember it, but it wasn't good.

I remember mine pretty well. I was actually more excited about the party my family had planned for that day.

Yes, they made us practise with plain wafers about a week beforehand, and it was actually quite fun.

We also had to go for confession before receiving our First Holy Communion, and honestly, that was the scariest part for me. I was nervous about it for the whole week leading up to confession! But once I finally received the sacrament, I felt so relieved and honestly, it felt awesome!

I was more excited about the idea of being a communicant. I don’t even remember if I prayed when I received Him the first time. I was just excited that I didn’t have to sit back on the pew anymore when my peers were going to the altar.

We had a whole month of prep classes, I think, where they took us through the prayers, Communion prep, Confession prep, and then Confession before our First Communion. And the party afterwards was pretty big too!

Haha my focus was probably more on the gown and what I was going to wear. And the Eucharist was more like, ‘Yay, I get to have the white thing now!’

Also, I remember being very excited, this guy I had a huge crush on, he also attended the Communion classes with me and sat next to me on the big day too, so my entire focus as a 12 year old was on my crush. 💀

Before the Mass, we had a street parade (procession) to the church.

I remember mine pretty well. It was at a very small Church in the Hill Country of Texas, and they had a visiting Friar from Ireland conduct the mass. He was the spitting image of a typical Friar, with a bit of a belly and the brown robe and haircut.

We did practice, but just the motions. They wouldn't give us the unconsecrated hosts or anything.

My whole family was there and I remember a sense of immense happiness. It felt like I was joining something so much bigger than myself.

Confession beforehand was much more stressful than the actual First Communion itself.

I remember it very well. I just had mine this year. I was just confirmed.

This week marks 16 years since I did. I remember it well, from where I come from (South India) they celebrate it with pomp. I was 9 years old then and to be honest I didn't understand the full weight of the Eucharist until my reversion to the faith at 17.
