We know that our spiritual nutrition would be lacking if we didn’t consume the Eucharist regularly and, in fact, our spiritual lives would be better if we received God more often.
The same principle applies to our health. If we only eat the foods that are best for us a couple times a week or less, why are we surprised we aren’t as healthy as we would like to be?
I will admit spiritual nutrition is easier in a sense, all that we need is present in the Eucharist. But we still should prepare, receive, and give thanks (literally the meaning of Eucharist).
We should follow the same steps with our meals, prepare for them, plan when we will eat and what we will have. Receive them and be present, try not to eat distracted or in a hurry. And lastly give thanks for what you are able to eat, even if it’s not the most delicious meal, if it helps you grow in health and is full of good nutrients, that’s a blessing!
What’s one way you can practice these steps with your meals this coming week?
