Non Denominational ➜ Catholic

Hi, I’m Aubrey. I’m 26 and currently converting from non-denominational Christianity to Catholicism this Easter.

I’ve gotten a lot of questions,
“Why Catholic?”
“What changed?”
“Aren’t you leaving what you believed?”

I get it, I had the same questions.

I didn’t grow up religious and actually considered myself atheist until 2018, when I had a radical encounter with Jesus during one of the darkest moments of my life. It changed everything.

I fell in love with Him.

From there, I entered the non-denominational world. I learned Scripture, prayer, and became deeply involved in church, leading, serving, and building community.

But over time… something started to feel off.

I would walk into church hungry for God, and leave feeling empty. Worship started to feel more emotional than reverent, like we were striving instead of resting in Him.

What I didn’t realize then was that I was longing for something deeper, reverence, mystery, and the true presence of Jesus.

Not a better experience, but Truth.

In October, I quietly joined OCIA out of pride to prove Catholicism wrong. I started attending Mass. I didn’t tell many people. I just listened, learned, and prayed.

And slowly, I fell in love with the Catholic Church.

I now believe the Eucharist is truly Jesus, His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. I understand Mary not as someone we worship, but as the Mother of God, honored for her yes. I see the Saints as intercessors, not replacements for Christ. And I’ve come to love the sacraments and the rosary in ways I never expected.

I’m not sharing this because I have it all figured out. In fact this journey has brought a lot of pain, and questioning. I’ve lost relationships because of my beliefs.

I’m sharing because this is where God has led me, through prayer, wrestling, and surrender.

I’ll be entering the Church this Easter.

I’m still learning, I’m asking questions, and trusting Him.

If you’re curious, questioning, or on your own journey, you’re not alone!!

Welcome Home!
And yeah, its a continual journey.
What is beautiful about the Catholic Church is that there is such great depth to it that you could spend a lifetime learning and still only skim the surface!

I wish you well in your continuing journey and may the Holy Spirit guide you to Heaven!
