For those that listend to the Bishop's sermon what are your thoughts? I might have misunderstood it. I understand our fallen nature interferes with our approach to things. Hence, feelings 𝑎𝘯𝑑 thoughts need to be brought into subjection to Jesus Christ and his truth. But it seemed to me being empathetic is something that we were discouraged to pursue.
Empathy is a tool, a means by which we can know how to approach others. Maybe it is a difference in culture and definition, as I believe the Bishop is from the States and referenced “woke” culure.
The definition of emphaty im familiar with is the ability to understand others and see them with dignity, love, and, compassion. And acting upon this, which entails doing what is eddying regardless of temporary affliction. It is not worry about “hurting other’s feelings” and hence backing up ill behavior. If we are in their shoes we would want someone to do what it takes to bring us to the knowledge of the truth and snatch us from hell.
Thoughts are welcomed, brothers and sisters
