Hi everyone! Im new to this app and just checking out all the features! Figured id give creating a community a try.

Im Cin ๐Ÿ‘‹ ive been passionate about mental health since I was a teenager and as an adult I get to live out my dream by practicing as a licensed psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. I love the integration of spirituality and mental health. I have always gone through my own mental health battles and have found that my Faith has been the guiding light of my darkest times. A good therapist has also been my trusted companion on the journey as well as a good 12 step group and the lives of the saints. ๐Ÿ˜‡

That's great! I work in mental health too - as a business analyst, not as a psychiatrist, but I did specifically choose to work in mental healthcare. The company I work at is also Christian, and it's beautiful how the faith is integrated into everything we do.

Hi! That is super cool! Mental healthcare business analyst is something I was never aware of! And even cooler that your company is Christian!! Thanks for commenting!

Meee! Been Passionate about ADHD ever since i got diagnosed as an adult! I think some of the saints have ADHD.. and how ADHDers hates structure but actually needs one. Especially Catholicismโ€™s structure actually helps alot in understanding oneself and as someone with ADHD helped me become better.๐Ÿ˜ญ sorry im scrambling my thoughts

No apologies needed here! Love to hear that youve become passionate about ADHD in your adulthood! So many people have ADHD and it totally affects how they navigate life. Catholicism offering structure is a cool take! Never thought about it like that!

@trulifeofcin honestly when i got diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, i fell into a rabbithole of hyperfixating in fixing myself. ๐Ÿ˜‚ there was this secular ADHD podcast that mentioned how she studied in Catholic school and even if she hated structure so much, being in Catholic school and the structure helped her pre diagnosis. That made me start my long journey of building my prayer life, practicing Catholicism. Iโ€™m still learning but ive come a long way from before ๐Ÿ˜ญ .. and how thereโ€™s some saints that might have it tooooo๐Ÿ˜

@littlemari one of my best friends in currently in the rabbit hole phase of fixing herself too!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ so cool that you're building a prayer life to help with your mental!!! How is that going? And which saints?!

@trulifeofcin soooo one of the things that actually helped me is going on a carnivore diet which i discovered through a Pints with Aquinas episode with Gabbi Castillo (he mentioned he was doing it for ADHD).. it changed my life..

Another thing, I once hyper focused on listening to Dr Hubermanโ€™s (neuroscientist) episode on ADHD and he mentioned about how focusing your eyes on a single point or object can increase activity in neural circuits related to attention and alertness. This made me think of Eucharistic Adoration and how alot of saints commit to a daily Holy Hour!!

Gabbi Castillo also explained helped me understand why praying the rosary is not just spiritually but also psychologically and mentally beneficial.. it isnโ€™t mostly fun, but it is a conscious choice of dying to yourself, mortifying your flesh that helps you with patience and perseverance.. the more you do regular mortifications, it exercises your will to be more accepting with Crosses that are not of your own choice

@trulifeofcin i ran out of characters, and i hope i explained it well. I recently saw a short clip from a Catholic podcast about neurodivergence that Sts Zellie Martin, St Therese of Liseux, St Joseph of Cupertino might have some neurodivergence.. probably St Carlo Acutis with his hyperfixating tendencies. I know thereโ€™s probably more ๐Ÿ˜†

I care because Im in the marine corps and I had depression and was suicidal at one point and I have had too many friends attempt suicide and the same mental problems so I care about it because Ive seen firsthand how massive a problem it is among active duty and veterans
@trulifeofcinApr 27
Wow, thanks for sharing about your experience with Mental Health in the active duty and veteran community! Reading that you care about mental health because of your own struggles really spoke to me today. So many people in that community are afraid to ask for help. Praise God for your care of the mind!!
