Any other new parents? No one warned me about this…

When my wife got pregnant, people we know who have children warned us about the sleepless nights, the incessant crying, and utter chaos. But what no one warned us about is the hours of silence.
I feed the little guy, he falls asleep on me, and I hold him for at least 20 minutes after feeding to prevent spitting up. This adds up to hours per day spent stuck in one spot with utter silence.

But I’ve discovered that this is a beautiful opportunity for prayer. I’ve tried to cultivate an appreciation for silence which I think has prepared me a bit more for this, but it’s still a struggle.

Has anyone else discovered this? What do you do during these times? I don’t want to just scroll/watch videos, open to other ideas!

Sorry this is so late, I used to do the compline during the night feeds to make it a less daunting. With this second baby, I will probably get back to doing that again!

I’ve prayed the rosary many times while my girl sleeps on me. There’s so many things in the world to pray for. I also speak to my guardian angel and the Holy Family. I also ponder about how to build the domestic church. Fonts, shrines, crucifixes, statues in my home. What items are in my house I need to rid of that are occult or obtained through envy or vanity. I even think up of how I’m going to start my daughter’s education in the faith. Looking for youth bibles, chew rosaries, and Catholic children’s books.
