Catholics that oppose liberalism are not sinning
Liberalism definition is a political and economic philosophy, emerging during the 17th-18th century Enlightenment, that prioritizes individual rights, equality, consent of the governed, and free markets. It directly contradicted the prevailing ideology of Absolutism—characterized by the divine right of kings, hereditary privilege, state-enforced religion, and mercantile economics.

I would go so far as to say that liberalism is antithetical to Catholicism. It emerged as an attempt to pick up the shards of Christendom that were shattered by the Reformation, and paste it all together.
