St. Augustine 1

God be with you, Deus vobiscum, and warm greetings my dear brothers.

St. Augustine was a brilliant and accomplished guy, an impressive man in all respects, yet lived in the world, in sin, but through it all he was searching, yearning, burning even, for true fulfillment...

He sook it from women, from rhetoric, from prestige and status, but all of them fell short...

When he was in Milan one afternoon he encountered, touched and was convicted so powerfully by the true fulfillment, Love itself; a conviction so powerful that it triggered what according to me was the most impactful conversion in Christian history, this man would go on to become a Saint and Church Father and influence Christian thought for all time to come.

We will read from and contemplate deeply on his writings in the following days, particularly focussing on his work titled: Confessions.

I’ve recently started reading Confessions, if anyone hasn’t read it, I really would recommend it! I love learning about the lives of Saints, and Saint Augustine is no exception. After all, he is my confirmation saint 😊 looking forward to journeying through it with you, brothers.
