Glory to Jesus Christ!
"What is the greatest wisdom that guards a man from all sin?" He says with a holy ferocity in his eyes. He is offering us a divine riddle.
"Death! Death! Death! Death!" Booms the monk's voice, one hand banging the table in front of him with each iteration while his fingers silently trace over the knots of his prayer rope in the other.
Not for a moment does a shadow of fear or worry pass over his face. What may appear to be a maniacal old man to worldly eyes stands before us a living and holy reminder to be prepared for death. Why? Because this is not our home. We are pilgrims passing through to a homeland that calls us to a different way of life.
