In today’s media climate, it’s important to remember that in Catholicism, we do not damn anyone to hell.
The Church has never officially declared any specific individuals to be in hell. From dictators to mass murderers, to the everyday people who lived lives of sin.
What the Church does declare, is who we know to be in heaven. That’s precisely what a Saint is.
It is not our job to cast judgement on who makes it through the pearly gates.
It is our job to pursue holy lives according to the guidance that Holy Mother Church has given.

We can observe and deduce from the Bible that there are indeed certain souls in Hell. Judgement is a part of existence, the prideful judgment is what we want to avoid. Following the whole "no one knows" thing just feeds the ill-informed "once saved always saved" crowd.
