Within the last few months, I have had ups and downs in my faith, I feel as sometimes I am not worthy of the promises of Christ, or I feel as im too vain to others and even when I try to meditate or dive deep into scripture to find the answer, even if the answer is given to me, I feel as if the solution is too far from me. I understand it is a constant battle, I guess I am just looking for some clearance from others experiencing or have experienced similar things.

@misericordiaAug 31Ups and downs are very natural! It's just important to understand where they come from. Many saints like St. Francis de Sales, St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. John of the Cross have written about this.
Short summary: if you have any ups, simply thank God for the graces and consolations He gives you and remember that they're not because of your own merit, but because the Lord wants to support you and make you grow closer to Him more easily.
If you have any downs, look if they're because of your own fault or not. They can be your own fault if you're simply not spending enough time in prayer, getting voluntarily distracted, not actively fighting sin, etc. If they're not your own fault, God is using them to purify your faith and love for Him, called spiritual darkness/dryness or desolation. It's a hard time, but a great grace because God is giving you a purer love for Him that you couldn't achieve on your own efforts.

@christinaSep 1Just reminds me of the verse, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ I don’t think God expects us to be 100% positive or feel His love all the time. He knows we’re a work in progress, and life can be hard.
So showing up with whatever little or much we have in us each day is still good. We’re showing up for Him, knowing that He understands us and knows what we’re going through. He is greater than whatever we may or may not be feeling that day.

@xxicenturycrusaderSep 2A great quote to remember is "The teacher remains silent during the test", it is in this periods of spiritual dryness is where discipline shows. Personally ive been trying to be better and more faithfull but these periods of spiritual dryness come often, even more if your family or friends are not practicing catholics. One thing that has helped me a ton is to se these periods as big opportunities to seek christ independently of how im feeling because there lies real faith. "St padre pio said that the most beautiful rosary is the one you pray tired" because going to christ and his Blessed mother in every moment and not only when you feel it or you seek help because something is wrong, is where real faith builds. So my friend you are not alone in this, try to set minimums and from there build.
