Hi all,
Hope you’re having a good Sunday 😊
Had a quick question - I’d love to get some tips on how you approach Bible study. How do you decide which book to read next? Also do you use any specific commentary, study guide, or do you just dive straight in?

Good question! I usually follow a study guide that has a reading plan and also some commentary/reflections on it, because for me that really helps to get more out of it. But I also try to first read and pray about it myself before I look at the commentary too much.
If I'm not following a guide, I pick a book that fits with something that's happening in my life or that I want to learn more about, or sometimes also a book that I've just not read much yet.
I think overall there's no "right" or "wrong" way to do it, as long as it helps you to learn more about God and His word and to love Him better. That's the most important!
So just pray about it, pray during your bible study & be consistent in making time for it each day - and God will do the rest.

Also, do they have a bible study group in your area? I've recently joined one where we come together each month to read the Bible, do some lectio divina and share our thoughts about it.
It's super helpful to stay consistent in it and to hear other people's thoughts, and it's also just really fun to do it together!

If you're new to bible study (like I am) I would highly recommend BIAY (bible in a year) by Fr. Mike Schmitz.
You can cover the bible in 365 days and all the specific readings are done in chronological and context based split ups, connecting one to the other, Fr. also provides a commentary after the readings.
It's free and available in podcast form.

Before I read, I pray and ask God to speak to me through his word. Then I open the Bible with faith and read a random page and passage, trusting that whatever I read is meant for me in that moment!🕊️
