It has been a long weekend of trying to be a good steward for very challenging land. One acre of trimming branches and pulling weeds and sweeping the driveway. I am not sure if sweeping the driveway counts but in the fifth hour I started thinking about how none of my neighbors care for the front of their property here as is customary for working ranches.
We have a walnut tree that overlooks the road and drops its shells on the for cars to run over. I thought about how it might be an example to clean up after that tree and just kept going until I had trimmed all of the roadside shrubs and raked all the weeds up and swept the gravel that had built up in the runoff in front of my house.
I wonder if we should start a stewardship page for everyone to encourage each other to go a little further.
